Description of the courses and area:

Swadlincote Woodlands is an interesting area that is starting to mature. It comprises of mainly woodlands with some open areas and a reasonably extensive path network. Much of the woodland is reasonably dense which will be slow going. The woodlands have matured somewhat providing quite a number of new features some with reasonable technical challenge.

The Short Course is easy and sticks entirely to the well-established path network.

The Medium Course is a step up from the Short course providing greater navigational challenge including route choice and some controls that are not on the path network.

The Long Course attempts to make the best of the area. It uses 48% new control sites introducing some reasonably challenging short-leg navigation. It has some fast path running, route choice, short leg-lengths, and limited visibility woodland. Should be a good challenge. It is predicted that 10 mins/k may be beaten.

The long course crosses a minor road and so is not suitable for runners under 16.

Adults and family groups taking part together, £5. Students and children going round alone or shadowed by an adult £3. Try a second course for just 50p, but please come early if you would like to do this as courses close at 4pm.
