Derby Night MapRun Series
About this event
Why not take on a new challenge? Come and join us for a series of smartphone-based events centred on the Derby parks! These training sessions are accessible for all as the score format allows you to choose how many controls to collect within the hour.
You will need a fully charged smartphone with downloaded MapRun app (clickable links below), suitable high vis clothing for pounding the parks and roads and a headtorch.
Why not invite your friends and relatives to get involved with the series. Help will be on-hand as the club has plenty of experienced MapRunners to get you started!

Setting up the MapRun mobile app
Before you leave home it’s best if you download the MapRun app (Version 7 recommended) and fill in your profile. We will explain how to use the MapRun app at the event, but to learn more, here is a quick start guide.
Scoring system
You have 1 hour to find as many controls as you can and return to the Finish.
**As this area is small we are using ScoreBxx. Click here for full details.**
Briefly:
- Runners punch even numbered controls first and then odd numbered controls (or vice versa).
- Score per control is between 30 and 60 points depending on the control number
- 30 penalty points for each minute and part minute over the hour.
