Organiser's/Planner's comments
Thank you to all who took part in the 2012 Club Championships, I hope you enjoyed your run. Judging from the comments received after the event most people seemed to. A majority of competitors bettered their handicap times (some substantially) suggesting that the handicaps were too generous. It was unfortunate that the first finisher crossed the line before the last starter had departed (sorry Rachel). Fortunately the last few starters were running for a separate trophy (the Junior Trophy) so it was not quite as bad as it might have been. I would like to point out that although the handicap times were calculated by Dave Nevell I thought his original times were too severe and therefore persuaded him to lengthen them. Subsequent events show that Dave's first attempt would have been more appropriate. The fault therefore lies with me and I think that the planner of next years event can rely on the times that Dave produces with some assurance.
Thank you to my co-organiser/co-planner Judith, to Ranald for his help before and on the day, Mike for organising the map printing and sorting out the results, everyone who collected controls in afterwards, including several who offered but we were unable to use as we already had sufficient collectors, and anyone else who helped in any way. I think it is the only event that I have planned where I did not have to collect a substantial number of controls (I only collected one control, that being the one nearest to assembly).
I look forward to returning to the role of competitor in next years Championships.
