Wirksworth was an enjoyable event to control. Firstly, the 17.00 kick-off meant that Dave and I avoided the normal early morning start to lay and check controls. It led to a quite relaxed set-up and being ready more than two hours before start time. I'm sure that we will look back fondly on this when we get up in the small hours on a freezing, wet January morning at a future event!
From my perspective, Emily and Dave made it a very easy event to control and I particularly enjoyed watching the DVO team click slickly into action which made it even more rewarding. For the event generally, the feedback I received from competitors was quite positive, at least it was once people had recovered from the hills and the heat and had stopped melting! Hope the bench delivered a good result.
Using an external controller for level C events is something that I strongly support because it helps the spread of good ideas and rapport between clubs. The more the better. I do hope that I haven't put you off!
Congratulations one and all and best wishes for your future events
Regards
Keith
