Want to give back more into your sport?

All our events are put on by volunteers and we would welcome some younger people to help with organising and planning. It’s interesting work, and a real buzz on event day!

We have 2 local events in May that need Organisers: Swadlincote Woods on Saturday 7th and Darley Park on Saturday 28th. The Risk Assessments have been completed for both events, so the Organiser’s role now is to update the event information on the website, gather 3 or 4 clubmates to help on the day and collect equipment from our store in Ambergate.

The Swadlincote event is Norwegian map memory format, with a White course for beginners and a Score course for children needing practice for the British Schools Score Champs. The Darley Park event is part of Derby Walking Festival and offers 3 Linear courses, a Score for children and a Score challenge for the more experienced! Our Planners for these events are Darren and Helen.

If you would like to help, as Organiser, or in a smaller role on the day, please contact Sal .

All new Organisers will need to attend an Event Safety Workshop, which can be taken online for a fee of £10, refundable from the club. See workshop details. We can also arrange face-to-face workshops.

Please consider helping in any capacity that you are able. Many of our regular helpers are now well into their 70s and the Club needs to ensure that Orienteering events in Derbyshire can continue into the future!
