Longshaw – Sunday 15 February 2026

Results

East Midlands Championships

Level: B (National)

At this moment in time I cannot comment on today’s incident but I thank all those competitors who stopped and helped giving up their run or pausing their run especially Dom Dakin.
As for results, I have asked DVO to reinstate the 2 competitors who I can see who were told to skip a control plus also finished. I can’t see anyone else who should be reinstated. I believe most competitors on the longer courses had to make a detour but as this was the majority I think very few gained time. I do understand a minority did stop and help then continued their runs. It’s not normal to void a course for competitors who give up their runs to help others.
Despite the circumstances, we did receive positive comments for not cancelling the event and Longshaw  being wonderful orienteering terrain. Well done to Ann Marie for her planning, Stuart for keeping a cool head as organiser and the DVO army of volunteers.
