If you have an existing medical condition or there have been changes to your health (even temporary changes) which event officials and medical professionals would find useful to know about, please consider the following:
- read the event/area details carefully and consider whether the event is suitable for you
- if you think you might be out for a long time, please start early
- if you have a medical wrist band or other method of alerting someone to your condition and what they might do about it please wear it. It might save your life. If you haven’t got one, please consider buying one. The ID Band Company has a range and they are not expensive
- consider carrying your medication
- seriously consider printing off and completing the British Orienteering Medical and Contact Details Form, put it in a sealed envelope and hand it in at download before you run. It will not be opened unless you are injured or missing when courses close. On your return to Download, you can retrieve the envelope and use it next time you orienteer.
