About this event
As usual, the briefing is 6:45 in the Toby Carvery car park, for a 7pm Mass Start. One hour to find as many controls as you can on the streets and in the park. Remember your torch and hi-vis! Paper maps available or you can use the map in the app.
You can park in the Toby Inn car park as we have previously, but it does state it’s for people using the pub. So, if you’re not using the pub, you may prefer free parking in front of the row of shops just NW of the pub or on nearby streets.
Chaddesden is Derby’s “American Estate” with many roads named after US states or presidents.
For details of how it works on your phone, see our Winter MapRuns 2026 series page.
You can also print a copy of the map plus course from the series page to plan your route in advance if you want. A limited number of paper maps will be available at each event and the map can also be viewed on your phone, which some prefer.

Competitor safeguarding, well-being and assistance
Derwent Valley Orienteers strives to be an inclusive club. We are committed to providing events which support the safety, safeguarding and welfare of competitors and volunteers. Please read these pages to find out more:
- Please tell us about relevant medical conditions - this could help save your life
- Safeguarding - includes safeguarding of children and vulnerable adults
- Photography at events - Please note that photos may be taken of participants competing at our club events.
If you require any assistance please contact the organiser. This includes advice for beginners or older competitors on the physical and technical difficulty of the courses as well as assistance for competitors who are neurodivergent and may like a quiet start or someone to pick up your bib or download your dibber after your run. We want everyone to have the best experience possible and if you don't ask, we won't know how we can help you achieve that.
