Allestree - Thursday 19 November 2026

Night MapRun

About this event

For this MapRun we’re giving you the opportunity to get a PB (if you ran this course last year) by offering the same course. Hopefully, you can find a more efficient route, avoid losing contact with the map, or just run/walk faster! Let us know how you find this as an occasional option.

Allestree is one of our hillier events, so remember to check out the contours for the most height-efficient route.

Parking is in the car park near the shops (likely to be full) or on streets nearby, with a briefing at 6:45 and Mass Start at 7pm. Come along for a drink in the handy Bar 189 and tell us how you got on!

For details of how it works on your phone, see our Winter MapRuns 2026 series page.

You can also print a copy of the map plus course from the series page to plan your route in advance if you want. A limited number of paper maps will be available at each event and the map can also be viewed on your phone, which some prefer.

A quick reminder for newcomers: participants who are not members of British Orienteering are not covered by British Orienteering's public liability insurance.

Competitor safeguarding, well-being and assistance

Derwent Valley Orienteers strives to be an inclusive club. We are committed to providing events which support the safety, safeguarding and welfare of competitors and volunteers. Please read these pages to find out more:

If you require any assistance please contact the organiser. This includes advice for beginners or older competitors on the physical and technical difficulty of the courses as well as assistance for competitors who are neurodivergent and may like a quiet start or someone to pick up your bib or download your dibber after your run. We want everyone to have the best experience possible and if you don't ask, we won't know how we can help you achieve that.
